This was followed by a sumptuous lunch at "panshikar"...a famous marathi food joint in girgaum area of mumbai....very close to the charni road station......lovely food !! total fida on it :) 

Just a glimpse of the crowd that comes in....such congregations are at each "gully" or street !!! 

The seventh and topmost layer.....the guys give up as the handi is too far.....so the topmost guys will give the final salute to the handi after which the pyramid starts coming down with the guys sliding down over each other.......this is followed by the guys dancing while water is sprayed on them....jus imagine a wet rain party after every attempt and all enjoy it !!!! the music defeaning......people dancing.....I think this is the real "India Shining".....:)

This is the haandi hanging from the top ! The nectar bowl so as to say....the next few pictures will capture an attempt to reach it as it builds up ! 

This is one of the tolis going for breaking the haandi...going on trucks...such processions are visible all over the city ! 

It all started on this rainy day on 16th August 2006....raining cats and dogs....me and two of my colleagues decided it was "baby's day out" for us.....this was the scene from the car !
